Meet The Team

Sarah Jouault: Club Captain

12 years ago I started running but needed a reason to run, so I started raising money for terminally ill children in 2001.

When I completed my 1st triathlon I could not swim and also had a great fear of the water.

In 2005 I learnt front crawl and raced Escape from Alcatraz becoming 4th in the USA.

By 2010 I came 1st in the UK ironman, represented team GB and eventually competing in the world championship  Ironman - Kona Hawaii.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Having won sports person of the year and been award the Paul Harris Award by the Rotary for all my work in charity I now decided to encourage more people to the sport.

We welcome you to join Mallorca Triathlon Club

Gary Miller: Vice Captain

So why did I start a Triathlon Club?

I had reasonable success at marathon and other shorter distance running and swimming events. When I began triathlon training I felt Mallorca was the perfect location to enjoy the sport.

Our aim in this club is build a good membership level and participate at a sensible level whilst maintaining a good work/tri/social balance.

Katie Handyside: Personal Trainer

Katie Handyside BSC, Ma personal training and sports nutrition.

I have been training for the past 10 years and have been in gyms all over the world; Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle and London. In the United States I qualified as a personal trainer with A.C.E (American Council on exercise). I then went onto study sports nutrition at the Cory Holly Institute, Vancouver, where I am now a CSNA Master (certified Sports Nutrition Advisor). I also have an instructor level certificate in Studio Cycling with the Y.M.C.A and I am trained in first aid (CPR-AED). I am very passionate and motivated in helping you to feel great about yourself. My mission is to guide my clients towards a healthier and more energized state of being, attaining a lifestyle with a body they feel great in.

Lisa: Secretary

Lisa decided she needed a challenge on reaching the age of 14 so she cycled from Coast to Coast and entered a Super Sprint Triathlon. She was hooked and began to compete regularly at Sprint Distance from 2003 with Bart.

In 2009, she finally managed to pluck up the courage to enter an Olympic distance race and wondered why she hadn’t done it years ago.

In 2011 Lisa made her debut at Half Ironman distance. She is currently being brainwashed by her fellow members into thinking that completing a full Ironman is the sane and rational next step in her triathlon career. She is not yet convinced……as such the club require a Secretary.

Barney Gumble: Website Manager

Barney is not a ‘typical’ triathlete. His colleagues are in IT and heavy metal, both more usually associated with drinking than sport, sort of. Maybe it was the post event beers that drew him into the sport?

Barney is responsible for maintaining and updating the website, if you have any queries, suggestions or comments he would like to hear from you on our contact email.
